Barkhamsted came into existence in Oct. 1779 and is part of Litchfield County, Connecticut. Named after Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England. Barkhamsted contains six villages, West Hill, Mallory, Center Hill, Washington Hill, Pleasant Valley and Riverton.
While visiting Barkhamsted there are many places you should stop and take a look at including the Saville Dam, Barkhamsted Reservoir and Peoples State Forest.
