Tolland County is located in the northeastern part of Connecticut. Several beautiful state parks to explore, hike and go fishing in can be found in Tolland County. Natural history museums, art museums and Stafford Motor Speedway are located in this Ct. county. Native Americans lived, hunted and walked the hills of this area - some of those old trails may still be found today. Tolland county is the home of "The Huskies" of UCONN - University of Connecticut and the largest higher education facility in the entire state. In addition to the UConn campus, you'll find the Center for Clean Energy Engineering, Human Resources, Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, Community School of the Arts and Chaplin Cottage.
The famous mineral waters have brought people to Stafford Springs for centuries. The historic Four Town Fair is held still held in this region. The fair was organized in 1838 to determine which of the ten school districts had the most oxen.
Civil War General Stonewall Jackson has ties to this region. The famous General rode "Little Sorrel". The General's favorite horse was born at the Collins Farm on Prink Street, which is now known as Springfield Road in Somers. Tolland County Connecticut borders Massachusetts to the north.
