Fairfield County CT Bike Trails Bicycling Routes

Housatonic Rail-Trail - Trumbull
Tait Road in Trumbull to Old Mine Park in Trumbull
3.4 miles
A shady respite from suburban Trumbull, this fairly flat trail overlooks the winding Pequonnock River for much of its 3.4 miles. Rapids and distinctive rock outcrops add interest. The trail begins on the railroad corridor, strays from it, then returns to emerge at Old Mine Park. The first 2.5 miles offer easy walking or cycling on dirt and gravel; the final portion is extremely rough.

Housatonic Valley Rail-Trail - Monroe
Tait Road in Trumbull to Old Mine Park in Trumbull
4.3 miles
Monroe residents use this largely forested 4.3-mile section of the Housatonic (known locally as the Monroe Railbed Trail) as a convenient bike route to William E. Wolfe Park. Visiting rail-trail users also gravitate around the park, which centers on Great Hollow Lake's attractive sand beach and swimming area, restrooms, and picnic tables.

Ridgefield Rail Trail
Ridgefield (Prospect St) to Branchville (Florida Rd)
2.3 miles
The Ridgefield Rail Trail was built by Connecticut Light & Power Company -- the owners of this abandoned rail corridor -- at no cost to Ridgefield. Motorized vehicles, bicycles and horses are not allowed on the trail.

Wilton Trail
Wilton (Olmstead Hill Road) to Wilton (Wolfpit Road)
2.7 miles
An unpaved trail connecting Horseshoe Park and Allen's Meadows in Wilton. About half of the trail is an on-road route. See the Trail Web site for more information.
